Shareholders meeting set, camp to follow

By Rob Demovsky

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- In another sign that the Green Bay Packers will open training camp on July 25, the team announced Wednesday that it will hold its annual shareholders meeting on July 24 at Lambeau Field.

Typically, the Packers hold their annual meeting the day before camp opens.

Coach Mike McCarthy has not announced his training camp schedule, but the rules of the CBA are such that he cannot begin practice until July 25 -- or 15 days before the Packers’ preseason opener, which is Aug. 9 at Tennessee.

"Mike is busy working on a schedule for training camp," Packers general manager Ted Thompson said last week. "He's revising it some to reflect our desire to try to maybe limit our players a little bit."

As for the shareholders meeting, anyone who owns stock is eligible to receive four tickets to the meeting.

The Packers list 364,111 stockholders who own a combined 5,014,545 shares. Organization bylaws prevent any person from owning more than 200,000 shares (or about 4 percent of the team).

Last year, about 13,000 attended the meeting.

"We're looking forward to welcoming our shareholders to Lambeau Field for the Annual Meeting and to see the newest developments with the renovation of the Atrium, including the new Packers Pro Shop, reconfigured Harlan Plaza and new East Gate," Packers president and CEO Mark Murphy said in a statement.
