Arizona's Preps Pick'em: Week 10

Each week we'll take three intriguing matchups and put our knowledge to the test with some predictions. If you think your team's game is one of the best on the schedule, let us know in the comments or on Twitter @CParishESPNHS and we'll put it up for debate.

(Ranks based on this week's state rankings)

No. 4 Saguaro (8-1) vs. No. 2 Chaparral (9-1)

You may not find a better game anywhere in the nation this weekend. Saguaro's lone loss came at the hands of Desert Vista on a game-winning field goal with no time remaining. Chaparral's lone loss came in the season's opening week against a Bishop Gorman (Las Vegas, Nev.) squad that is currently the nation's No. 7 team in the POWERADE FAB 50. Chaparral has two of the state's best players in seniors Davonte' Neal and Connor Brewer; Saguaro has the player who may well win Player of the Year honors in D.J. Foster. The two teams average 58 and 47 points per game, respectively. But one team has a slightly better defense, and that'll be the difference. PREDICTION: Chaparral 34, Saguaro 31

Chandler (7-2) at No. 6 Desert Vista (8-1)

When your only loss is to a team that has won a nation-best 49 games in a row, it's tough to be all that critical. Desert Vista has put up some impressive victories this season and could earn some much-needed home-field advantage in the opening games of the playoffs by beating a Chandler squad that has been great, although occasionally inconsistent. Still, the Wolves have scored 35 in all but one game this season, meaning it'll be up to the defense to make a stop. I smell an upset in this one. PREDICTION: Chandler 28, Desert Vista 24

No. 10 Liberty (9-0) at Cactus (7-1)

What a rude awakening for Liberty. The team enters the POWERADE Arizona Weekly Rankings for the first time this season only to face a very dangerous Cactus team to close out the regular season. Cactus has suffered only one loss (to Saguaro) and since then has been one of the state's best teams — the Cobras have posted five shutouts in nine games. Liberty relies on the arm of junior QB Tyler Rogers. But can he lead his team to a perfect regular season? PREDICTION: Cactus 30, Liberty 24

Previous Record: 19-4
