Courtney Hawkins played for the Texas Rangers at the 2011 Area Code Baseball Games presented by New Balance. At that time he made it known that he was committed to Oklahoma. But that recently changed. He changed from Oklahoma and said his new school of choice is Texas.
When asked about the switch, Hawkins said that because OU coach Tim Tadlock left the program (he went Texas Tech) he decided to move to Texas.
"We had a really good relationship and I just wasn't really liking Oklahoma anymore with out (coach) Tadlock there," he told ESPNHS.com.
"As far as Texas goes I know alot of the guys there already and I know the coaches. It feels good to know I'll be playing ball for my home state and as a Longhorn."
Texas' rectuiting class just got that much stronger and he joins other notable recuits like: CJ Hinojosa, Austin Dean and Ty Culbreth in Austin.
