Players dish on skills they'd like from Santa

By Jason Jordan

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Julius Randle can understand why you’re mystified.

Here he is ranked No. 3 in the ESPNU 60 and the one thing he says he wishes could unwrap for Christmas is a basketball skill?

Oh the greed.

“Hey I’m not a finished product,” Randle said. “There are absolutely aspects of my game that I’m constantly working on. I’d love to unwrap a skill.”

Novel concept indeed.

We had Randle and a handful of other players here at the City of Palms Classic in Fort Myers, Fla., dish on what past and present NBA player’s skill they’d most like to unwrap this Christmas.

Julius Randle, Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas), F, 2013
This Christmas I’d like to unwrap…
Ray Allen’s shooting ability. That’s an easy one because I would love to be able to shoot like Ray Allen. I mean who wouldn’t? I swear that guy almost never misses. That would be really cool if that was under my tree on Sunday.”

Isaiah Austin, Grace Prep (Arlington, Texas), C, 2012
Signed to: Baylor
This Christmas I’d like to unwrap…
Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s sky-hook. That’s definitely the best gift for me because we’re both centers and his sky-hook was just unstoppable.”

Nerlens Noel, Tilton School (Tilton, N.H.), C, 2013
This Christmas I’d like to unwrap…
Kevin Durant’s shot and his handles, which I’m working on right now. I’m already his size and with those skills I’ll be a mismatch for every immobile big man that I match up against.”

Tony Parker, Miller Grove (Lithonia, Ga.), F, 2012
This Christmas I’d like to unwrap…
Zach Randolph’s footwork. He just gets wherever he wants on the court because of that footwork and he just kills his defenders.”
