The up-and-down season of Sporting Kansas City's under-17/18 team is on the upswing following its 2-1 U.S. Soccer Development Academy triumph over St. Louis Scott Gallagher Metro in its Frontier Division Central Conference opener March 10.

Goals by forwards Isai Gutierrez and Eduardo Moreno in the 19th and 32nd minutes hoisted Sporting Kansas City from a 1-0 deficit as the team improved to 5-3 overall. Next up is a meeting with St. Louis Scott Gallagher Missouri (0-0, 3-2-2).

Sporting Kansas City has been just fine, when it hasn't had to mess with Texas.

After graduating a large senior class, Bradley confirmed a 10-player incoming class Monday that includes nine current high school seniors and one transfer. Bradley's signings this year are Grant Bell, Andrew Brown, Johnny Contreras, Jake Gilchrist-Dudley, Logan Ketterer, J.T. Kotowski, Andrew Kovacevic, Jason Lesch, Jerrin Moore and Joe Morales.

ESPNHS Fall All-America boys' soccer list

The fall high school soccer season annually showcases the most, and usually the best, college-bound talent during the school year.

Of the 36 members of the ESPNHS Fall All-America teams, 33 have signed or committed to NCAA Division I programs and two are expected to pursue professional careers. That leaves only one player, a junior standout, who remains uncommitted at this point.

This year’s 12-member first team features eight players who are headed to ACC programs and one who will turn pro. The other three players are heading to prominent programs in the Midwest.

US Soccer goes to 10-month Academy slate

In a move long anticipated, US Soccer announced Friday that it will adopt a 10-month schedule starting next fall. US Soccer claims it received "overwhelming support from the Development Academy membership" for a season that will run from September through June or July of the following year. The move will prevent Academy players from representing their high school teams starting next school year, which was a source of debate and concern at the National Soccer Coaches Assocation of America Convention held last month. US Soccer prepared this list of frequently asked questions to explain the transition.
