Wake Forest nets another DC United player

Collin Martin, a Class of 2013 midfielder prospect from Bethesda, Md., verbally commited to Wake Forest, his family confirmed Friday.
In a move long anticipated, US Soccer announced Friday that it will adopt a 10-month schedule starting next fall. US Soccer claims it received "overwhelming support from the Development Academy membership" for a season that will run from September through June or July of the following year. The move will prevent Academy players from representing their high school teams starting next school year, which was a source of debate and concern at the National Soccer Coaches Assocation of America Convention held last month. US Soccer prepared this list of frequently asked questions to explain the transition.

Bus carrying team catches fire, no injuries

The Los Angeles Daily News reported Tuesday that a school bus carrying a boys' soccer team to a match caught fire along I-5 in California. There were no reported injuries and the team was transfered to another bus in order to get to the match.

Brophy Prep leads Arizona state rankings

It comes as no surprise that Brophy Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.) checks in at No. 1 in The Arizona Republic preseason boys' soccer rankings. The defending state champ was the top-rated Arizona program and No. 2 overall in the POWERADE FAB 50 preseason rankings released in early November.

Conestoga (Berwyn, Pa.) capped an undefeated run with a 1-0 victory over Upper St. Clair (Upper St. Clair, Pa.) to capture the Pennsylvania Class AAA state title Saturday. Conestoga, ranked No. 6 in last week's POWERADE FAB 50, ended the season 24-0-1.

Green Hope sends coach off with a title

A change of venue did little to thwart the dominance of St. Louis schools at this year's Missouri boys' soccer state championships, which where held outside of St. Louis for the first time ever.
DeSmet (St. Louis, Mo.) defeated Oakville (Oakville, Mo.) for the Class 3 crown and Priory (St. Louis, Mo.) downed Trinity Catholic (St. Louis, Mo.) in the Class 2 final in Kansas City, Mo. All four finalists are St. Louis-area schools.
