Paramount (Paramount, Calif.), which started the season in the POWERADE FAB 50 then fell out, likely will return to the rankings Tuesday following a convincing showing at the Golden State Invitational.
Paramount defeated Loyola (Los Angeles, Calif.) 2-0 in the final Friday.
The Golden State Invitational results help validate the depth of soccer in Southern California as Paramount and Loyola, both from the Southern Section -- but neither highly ranked, reached the final at the Golden State Invitational, which included many of the top-ranked Northern California programs.
Paramount junior forwards Frankie Perez and Tyrone Pitter each scored four goals at the event. Senior keeper Anthony Maldonado recorded three shutouts.
