Surf midfielder picks Loyola Marymount

Ryan Kretz, a Class of 2012 midfielder prospect from San Diego, Calif., verbally committed to Loyola Marymount, according to his family.

Kretz has started in all 15 matches in which he has appeared with the San Diego Surf under-17/18 US Soccer Development Academy team this season. He has scored two goals.

He plays high school soccer with Francis Parker (San Diego, Calif.), where he has five goals and three assists this season as the team is off to a 7-1-2 start. Last year he earned all-league honors and was named MVP at the Parker Cup.

Kretz joins a Loyola Marymount recruiting class that includes Paul Blanchette, Aki Ohtake-Gordon and Leon Prikhodovskiy.
