Brett Campbell, a Class of 2013 forward who was among the top scorers in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy last season, verbally committed to Georgetown on Wednesday, he told ESPNHS.

The Wallingford, Pa., standout netted 21 goals in 29 matches for the FC Delco under-15/16 Academy team last season. This year, as a member of the under-17/18 FC Delco squad, he has scored twice in five matches.

Campbell also was a standout performer this past fall for Haverford School (Haverford, Pa.), where he scored 38 goals and added eight assists in 21 matches. He was the runner-up for the Inter-Ac MVP, yet earned first-team All-Delco, All-Inter-Ac and All-Southeastern Pennsylvania honors.

Campbell's commitment adds to Georgetown's run on goalscorers. The Hoyas' 2012 recruiting class includes Brandon Allen and Josh Turnley, who both scored more than 100 career high school goals.

Campbell is the first confirmed commitment to Georgetown for the Class of 2013.
