Jacob Gandarilla, who is tied for the Shattuck-St. Mary's team lead in goals, has verbally commited to Southern Methodist University, where he will join a club teammate.
Gandarilla plays for the under-17/18 squad in the U.S. Soccer Development Academy, and has seen action in all five of the team's matches and scored twice. Last season, he appeared in only six matches with the under-17/18 team.
He attends Shattuck-St. Mary's (Faribault, Minn.).
Gandarilla and Shattuck-St. Mary's teammate John Lugano from Kansas are part of SMU's 2012 recruiting class, which also includes Michael King, Brenden Lee, Murphy Short and Leobardo Vazquez from Texas and Derek Schrick from Missouri.
