Chicago Fire keeper selects SIU-Edwardsville

Kyle Dal Santo, ranked in the ESPNHS 150 for the Class of 2013, has verbally committed to Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville, he confirmed.

The Class of 2013 goalkeeper prospect has started all seven matches this season for the Chicago Fire under-15/16 Development Academy team and has been part of four shutouts en route to the team's 4-2-1 start. He made nine appearances with the Chicago Fire under-15/16s during the 2010-11 season.

He was a member of the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program on the state and regional levels between 2007 and 2010. During his final year in the ODP program, he played in the Region 2 Italy International Tournament in Milan, where the team went 6-1-1 and he posted a 0.40 goals against average. During the Region 2 ODP Championships, he posted five shutouts for Illinois in five matches.

Dal Santo played high school soccer at Benet Academy (Lisle, Ill.) where he has posted 10 shutouts each of the past two seasons. This past season he earned East Suburban Catholic All-Conference, Daily Herald Dupage County All-Area, Illinois High School Coaches Association All- Sectional and Chicago Tribune second team all-state honors.

He is the first confirmed commitment to SIU-Edwardsville for the Class of 2013.
