Campbell swaps verbal, opts for Penn State

Shane Campbell, a Class of 2012 prospect from Pennsylvania, recently de-committed from Old Dominion and verbally committed to Penn State, he told ESPNHS.

Campbell plays club soccer for FC Delco in the US Soccer Development Academy and has made appearances with the Philadelphia Union reserves.

He attends Dallastown (Dallastown, Pa.), where he has been a three-year starter for the school's varsity team.

Campbell joins a Penn State recruiting class that includes Kelton Cheney, Christian Kaschak, Drew Klingenberg and Matthew Mayewski.

Other Schools Considered: North Carolina, Old Dominion, Virginia.

Why Penn State?: "Penn State was attractive because of it being a great academic institution, also the surrounding area of State College is very nice and the soccer facilites were top-notch.

What did you learn about the recruiting process?: "The recruiting process was long but enjoyable. It forces you to make some tough decisions and when you go and visit schools, you create relationships with players/coaches which are very hard to turn away from when choosing your school."
