UNC-Charlotte lands talented finisher

By Sheldon Shealer

Hans Horner, a Class of 2013 forward prospect from Charlotte, N.C., has verbally committed to UNC-Charlotte, according to his family.

UNC-Charlotte is coming off an NCAA runner-up finish in 2011.

Horner has started all 13 matches this season for the Charlotte Soccer Academy under-15/16 squad in the US Soccer Development Academy. He leads the team with six goals. The team's perfect start in league play has it in position to challenge for the division title for the second straight season.  Last season, he scored five goals in 27 appearances.

Horner had 11 goals and six assists in eight high school matches for Vance (Charlotte, N.C.) this past fall before sustaining an injury. He played the 2009 and 2010 high school seasons at Gray Stone Day (Richfield, N.C.) while he compiled 50 goals and 27 assists. He was an all-conference selection both seasons.
