Raiders FC midfielder selects Marquette

By Sheldon Shealer

Jack Alberts, a Class of 2013 midfielder prospect from Hinsdale, Ill., has verbally committed to Marquette, he confirmed to ESPNHS on Wednesday.

Alberts plays club soccer for Raiders FC, which is nationally ranked No. 5 in its age group. The team won a Disney Showcase title in December, placed first in the US Youth Soccer Midwest Regional League, second in the US Youth Soccer National League and was the Illinois State Cup runner-up. The team will be playing this month in the US Youth Soccer Region II Championships. Alberts has two goals and six assists during that time.

Last fall, Alberts played high school soccer at Fenwick (Oak Park, Ill.), where he had 12 goals with 14 assists for the 14-6-3 squad. Alberts, a three-year starter, earned first-team all-conference honors and was an all-state sectional selection.

Alberts is the first out-of-state commitment to Marquette for the Class of 2013. The Golden Eagles already have verbals from Louis Bennett, Alex McBride and Jake Taylor.
