State champ coach vows to fight for his job

Jeff Long, who guided Clinton (Miss.) to four state titles during his 13-year coaching career, including the 6A title this past winter, is fighting for his job after getting fired last week, according to a story in the Clarion-Ledger. Clinton finished ranked among the POWERADE FAB 50 for winter programs this past season.

Clinton (Miss.) tops Gulfport for 6A title

Clinton (Miss.) claimed its ninth boys' soccer state title with a 2-0 victory over Gulfport (Miss.) in the Class 6A state final Saturday night. Gulfport had defeated nationally ranked Ocean Springs (Miss.) in the state semifinals. Clinton ends the season at 22-2-2, Gulfport finishes 19-4-1.
