Brock Fitzgerald, a Class of 2013 forward/midfield prospect from Lincoln, Neb., verbally committed to Creighton on Saturday, his family confirmed.
Fitzgerald has been a two-year member of the US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program Region II (Midwest) team, and recently competed at the NCAA Interregional Showcase in December. He scored the team's lone goal in a 1-0 decision over Region III (South) and netted a goal in a 4-1 victory over Region I (East).
As a member of Omaha FC, Fitzgerald and his teammates have won the under-15, under-16 and under-17 State Cup titles.
Fitzgerald has played two seasons at Pius X (Lincoln, Neb.), helping the team to a state title in 2010 and a state tournament appearance in 2011. Last season, Fitzgerald was the team's leading scorer, and he earned Class B all-state honors by the Omaha World Herald and Lincoln Journal.
He is the first confirmed commitment to Creighton for the Class of 2013.
