ODP event offers a look at soccer's future

ESPNHS takes a look at the players to watch for US Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP) Boys Thanksgiving Interregional, which begins Nov. 26 in Chula Vista, Calif. Nearly 200 players representing each of the country's four US Youth Soccer regions and the U.S. Soccer Under-14 national team will take part in the event.

Players to Watch, 1997 Age Group

Cameron and Garrett Keys, Whitehall, Pa.: These twin brothers were part of the Lehigh Valley United team that finished as the US Youth Soccer Region I group runner-up to Manhattan SC.

Ethan Lochner, New York, N.Y.: Lochner scored four goals while helping Manhattan SC to a group title at the US Youth Soccer Region I championships this past summer.

Christian Lucatero, Pasadena, Texas; and Juan Martinez, Dayton, Texas: Lucatero and Martinez were teammates last summer for LAFC Houstonians, which placed second at the US Youth Soccer Region III championships. Lucatero and Martinez each scored four goals at the event.

Dylan Smith, Anaheim, Calif.: Smith scored three goals and helped Fullerton Rangers claim the U.S. Soccer Under-14 national title in 2011.

Thomas Ueland, Lexington, Ky.: Ueland was the key player who helped Lexington FC to a State Cup title and appearance in the U.S. Youth Soccer Region II championships in 2011.
