New, updated list of all-time best for single season from the exclusive Cal-Hi Sports state record book has expanded to more than 150 players. Earliest listing is from 1966. NFL players Ryan Mathews, Toby Gerhart and Jahvid Best all among top 11.

Ventura High’s Tyler Ebell obliterated the single-season state rushing record in the 2000 season and still ranks more than 900 yards ahead of the No. 2 total on the all-time state list. Concord High’s Olito Thompson enters the 2012 season after rushing for 3,488 yards as a junior, which is No. 4 on the state list and is No. 1 for Northern California.

State Football Touchdown Leaders

California high school footballMark Tennis/ESPNHSJustin Davis scored 39 touchdowns in 2011 for Lincoln of Stockton.
Updated all-time list from exclusive Cal-Hi Sports state record book now includes nearly 200 players. Earliest listing is from 1954. Newest are four from 2011.

Tyler Ebell, who played at Ventura in the 2000 season, still holds the state record for most touchdowns in a season with 64. Former NFL running back DeShaun Foster is still second on that list with 59 touchdowns in 1997.
