ESPNHS has announced its preseason all-state baseball teams, so feel free to start debating the Colorado selections.

It's no surprise that players like Highlands Ranch's Ryan Burr or Liberty's Brent Williams are on our squad. But take a look at who else made the team, and then reach out on Twitter @CParishESPN to tell us who you think should have made the cut.

With the 2011-12 hoops season set to tip off, ESPNHS has all the info you need on the top players in Colorado.

We’ve broken down the state’s top 20 players into four teams based on their talent, and included a whole lot of others who just missed the cut. Keep in mind, these preseason selections are based on past accomplishments and projected on-court performance in addition to recruit rankings.

First Team

G: Dominique Collier, Denver East, 6-1/145, Sophomore
Named to U16 National Team and averaged 16.8 points per game last season.

G: Tanner Samson, Regis Jesuit, 6-4/180, Senior
Samson is this year’s go-to option for three-time defending 5A state champs.

F: Wesley Gordon, Sierra, 6-8/220, Senior
This elite shot blocker has committed to Colorado.

F: Kaleib Rodriguez, ThunderRidge, 6-8/200, Senior
This Cal recruit could become an elite defender with some added size.

C: Josh Scott, Lewis-Palmer, 6-10/215, Senior
Scott, a CU recruit, is rated the nation’s No. 46 player in the ESPNU 100.


Second Team

G: Nate Engesser, C.S. Christian, 6-3/175, Senior
He averaged 19.6 points per game last season and was named Colorado Springs Gazette 3A Player of the Year.

G: Nate McGinley, Centaurus, 6-0/160, Senior
McGinley led the Warriors in scoring after missing half the season due to transfer rules.

G: Xavier Talton, Sterling, 6-1/175, Senior
This D-I hoops recruit is also a standout long jump specialist in track.

F: Austin Haldorson, Highlands Ranch, 6-8/190, Senior
Haldorson, a Wyoming recruit, led the Falcons to a 24-2 record last winter.

F: Alex Welsh, Pomona, 6-6/210, Senior
Welsh earned Denver Post All-Class 5A second team honors last year.


Third Team

G: Josh Adams, Chaparral, 6-0/175, Senior
This Wyoming recruit averaged 16.1 points per game last season for the Wolverines.

G: Cory Calvert, Chaparral, 6-3/185, Senior
This BYU recruit forms one half of arguably the best backcourt in Colorado.

G: Carlton Hurst, Aurora Central, 6-3/185, Junior
Hurst is a flashy point guard who’s one of the state’s most reliable scorers.

F: Jordan Scott, Lewis-Palmer, 6-6/190, Junior
The brother of first-teamer Josh Scott is already drawing D-I interest.

F: Jonathan Snow, Columbine, 6-6/235, Junior
Snow led the Rebels in scoring with 14.6 points per game last season.


Fourth Team

G: Aaron Schmidt, Windsor, 6-3/185, Senior
Schmidt averaged 14.1 points per game last season and also plays RB/DB for the football team.

G: Luke Stratman, D’Evelyn, 6-1/175, Junior
Stratman can score in bunches and topped 20 points 13 times last winter.

G: Azlan Williams, Montbello, 6-5/175, Senior
This senior swingman is one of the best perimeter shooters in the state.

F: Drew Bridges, Fruita Monument, 6-5/200, Senior
Bridges averaged 17.3 points per game last year and is also a standout baseball player.

F: Derek Karg, Sterling, 6-5/190, Senior
This clutch performer came up big in last year’s 4A title run.
