Each week, we’ll take an in-depth look at our All-State preseason football team and let you know how a few of those athletes are faring as the season progresses. We'll highlight a blue-chipper (a first-team player), an OTP (other top player) and an under-the-radar pick (someone who didn't make the squad but is making a case to be on the team).

This week, a pair of brothers run roughshod over the competition and a quarterback does what no other teams could do combined to Arapahoe.

Blue Chip: Max McCaffrey, Valor Christian, DB
OTP: Christian McCaffrey, Valor Christian, RB

It was a big night for the McCaffrey brothers during Valor Christian's 58-13 win over Rock Canyon last weekend. Max, the senior who is on our ESPNHS All-State first team, had three blocked field goals last year. He had two blocked punts in this game, returning both for touchdowns. He also scored on a reception. Christian, a sophomore, added two touchdowns rushing and one receiving. Together the brothers had six touchdowns for the Eagles and have been one of the biggest reasons why Valor Christian is the top team in Colorado.

Under the Radar: Sean Flanagan, Bear Creek, QB

Flanagan put together a masterful effort to help Bear Creek hand Arapahoe its first loss of the season. He threw for five touchdown passes, including three in the second half, as the Bears rolled to a 40-23 victory. Flanagan helped the Bears score more points in the final two quarters than Arapahoe had previously given up all season long.
