Week 4 football preview and picks
By By Mike Grimala
There are no monster matchups this week, so no need to bore you with a long, drawn-out intro. I know why you're here — you want the picks. So let's jump right into it.
Week 4 Picks
No. 1 Masuk (3-0) at Barlow (1-2) Friday, 3 p.m.
Masuk's low point total so far this season is 49, and I don't see them going any lower against a 1-2 Barlow squad.
Masuk 55, Barlow 6
Amity (1-3) at No. 2 Xavier (4-0) Thursday, 7 p.m.
The easiest game of the week to pick, since it was played yesterday. Anyway, I see Ryan Jacobucci catching a pair of touchdown passes in an easy win.
Xavier 49, Amity 6 *Note: Amity drilled a late PAT to make it 49-7, so the "prediction" was off by a point. Still nailed everything else, though.
Ledyard (2-0) at No. 7 New London (2-0) Friday, 6:30 p.m.
Ledyard is a quality team, but I think New London's defense will make at least one big play (INT return, 4th-down stop, etc) to turn this game.
New London 20, Ledyard 10
Hartford Public (3-0) at Windsor (3-0) Friday, 7 p.m.
I think Hartford Public can control the clock with junior RB Shyquan Manguel grinding it out, but in the end Windsor has too many offensive weapons.
Windsor 28, Hartford Public 20
