 With the regular season finished, Masuk is still standing as the wire-to-wire No. 1 team in the POWERADE state rankings. The Panthers blew out Newtown, 46-7, to close the 2011 regular season, but the playoffs now bring a different challenge.

Masuk opens the postseason on Tuesday against North Haven. The Panthers are looking to win their second consecutive Class L championship, while No. 2 Xavier will battle Glastonbury on Tuesday to kick off the Class LL playoffs.

Final regular season POWERADE state rankings:
  1. Masuk (10-0) — Defeated Newtown, 46-7 (last week: No. 1)
  2. Xavier (10-0) — Defeated Middletown, 48-6 (last week: No. 2)
  3. Daniel Hand (10-0) — Defeated Guilford, 40-15 (last week: No. 3)
