Week 6 football picks

10/20/2011

The Week 6 picks are in. I don't want to disappoint, but I should tell you up front that there are no major upsets in the making this weekend. I think New Britain has a legitimate shot to take down No. 7 Conard, but I don't feel like that outcome would shock too many people.

Note: You won't see the Xavier-Shelton game here, because I'm saving that for an in-depth preview tomorrow.

Week 6 picks

Middletown (4-1) at No. 10 Windsor (5-0)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Don't sleep on Windsor junior QB Quinn Fleeting — he's on a 30-TD pace.

WINDSOR 32, MIDDLETOWN 17

No. 7 Conard (4-0) at New Britain (3-2)

Friday, 7 p.m.

Like a rock-climber who self-amputates in order to survive, New Britain is clawing its way back from an 0-2 start.

NEW BRITAIN 24, CONARD 20

No. 1 Masuk (5-0) at Immaculate (0-5)

Saturday, 1 p.m.

My apologies for putting this game in the picks lineup, I don't want to offend Immaculate fans with this prediction.

MASUK 49, IMMACULATE 0 (end third quarter)

St. Joseph-Trumbull (1-4) at No. 3 New Canaan (5-0)

Saturday, 2 p.m.

In good weather conditions, I think New Canaan ends this game early.

NEW CANAAN 38, ST. JOSEPH-TRUMBULL 9

No. 4 Daniel Hand (5-0) at Wilbur Cross (1-3)

Friday, 3:30

Hand is coming off a huge win over Notre Dame-West Haven, but don't expect a letdown here.

DANIEL HAND 28, WILBUR CROSS 6

Wilton (3-2) at No. 5 Darien (5-0)

Saturday, 2 p.m.

Darien should hold Wilton to single digits in this one, which is enough to win comfortably.

DARIEN 21, WILTON 7

Watertown (2-3) at No. 8 Ansonia (5-0)

Friday, 7 p.m.

If Arkeel Newsome only runs for 250 yards, will people be disappointed?

ANSONIA 41, WATERTOWN 14
