Elite 11 Alum of the Week
Tom Hauck/ESPNHSElite 11 MVP Matt Stafford in 2008 as a counselor
Matt Stafford, Detroit Lions
Expectations are extremely high right now in Detroit and of course this all depends on the former Elite 11 MVP’s ability to stay healthy. In week one of the NFL, Stafford was able to overcome leg cramps to lead the Lions to a big 27-20 road win over fellow Elite 11 quarterback Josh Freeman and the Tampa Bay Bucs. On the day, he finished 24-of-33 for 305 yards and three touchdowns. More importantly, Stafford showed that his shoulder is completely healthy, withstanding a few big hits in the game and getting right back up.
