In a surprise rivaling the Denver Broncos’ win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last weekend, Mullen (Denver) has dismissed head football coach Dave Logan.

Logan is one of the most successful football coaches in Colorado history, having amassed six championships during his 19-year tenure, four of which have come at Mullen High School. Logan, a former NFL player, is also the radio voice of the Denver Broncos.

According to The Denver Post, Mullen President and Chief Executive Ryan Clement was looking for a more full-time presence at the school. In addition to his duties with the Broncos, Logan hosts a weekly radio show.

His success at various schools — he’s compiled a 201-43 record and 17 playoff appearances with Arvada West (Arvada, Colo.), Chatfield (Littleton) and Mullen — has led to consistent speculation about opportunities to coach at the collegiate level, and his name has been floated more than once when head coaching openings have opened up at the University of Colorado.
