Columbus tops Parkview to stay No. 1 in baseball rankings

By David Auguste

Rough week to be a nationally ranked team as two locals (Parkview and Brookwood) dropped out the POWERADE FAB 50. In the game of the week, Columbus won the battle of Georgia's top when it topped Parkview. The win keeps the fourth-ranked Blue Devils in the hunt for a national title.

Several new teams enter the rankings after losses bumped out six of our preseason top 10 squads. Greenbrier enters the national rankings No. 27, replacing two-loss Parkview as the state's No. 2 squad. Gainesville and Brookwood are regionally ranked and Luella is knocking on the door at 8-1.

Here's a look at the top three:
1. Columbus (7-0) — last week No. 2
2. Greenbrier (6-0) — last week NR
3. Gainesville (8-0) — last week NR
