The tragic news of Tayshana Murphy's murder came early Sunday morning. The basketball standout had just started her senior year at Murry Bergtraum (Manhattan, N.Y.) when she was shot and killed in a hallway at her home on Sept. 11.
According to ESPN New York, police are now looking to question two men who were caught on video at the scene of the crime. A New York Daily News report on Monday said Murphy might have been targeted along with her two brothers, which contradicted an earlier belief that it was a case of mistaken identity.
"Even though she was a tough street kid, she was a really sweet girl," her former club and high school coach Apache Paschall told HoopGurlz. "Everybody liked her. She was a jokester, real witty. She made everybody laugh and feel comfortable. She was just one of those kids."
