Rivals set to merge in Kansas City

A vote by Kansas City FC members this week overwhelmingly supported a merger between Elite Clubs National League rivals KCFC and BVSC, a pair of Kansas City-area club programs, effective for next season.

The teams currently are ECNL rivals in the Midwest Conference, where KCFC is higher than BVSC in the standings in every age group. The merger could result in a super club representing Kansas City in the ECNL. Four of KCFC's five ECNL teams are in fourth place or higher in the conference, with the under-16 squad currently in first and the under-14 team in second. Pooling the top players from both KCFC and BVSC should make the new club a factor in every ECNL age group.
