Gabby de Leon, a Class of 2014 midfielder from Rowlett, Texas, has verbally committed to Arkansas, her family has confirmed.
De Leon is one of the primary offensive threats for Dallas Sting’s U16 squad, which currently sits at No. 7 in the ESPNHS ECNL Under-16 Power Rankings. She is tied for second on the team with four goals this year from the midfielder position. She was selected to the ECNL/id2 Players Development Program event in Dallas in March for her play at defense.
The Sting were semifinalists at last year’s US Youth Soccer National Championships and finalist in 2010. The two-time defending Region III champions also look to compete in the ECNL playoffs this June. Between Sting’s success and her success on the high school side at Rowlett (Rowlett, Texas), de Leon has major experience in high level matches.
De Leon becomes the second confirmed commitment to Arkansas for the Class of 2014, joining fellow North Texas midfielder Madison Hall.
