KCFC keeper staying local for college

By Chris Ackels

Morgan Perkins, a goalkeeper from Liberty, Mo., has verbally committed to Missouri-Kansas City, her family has confirmed.

Perkins is a goalkeeper for the KCFC U17 squad that currently holds a streak of five consecutive State Cup championships. In last year’s Missouri State Cup tournament, she played in five games and allowed just one goal to help her team to their fifth straight title.

In high school play at Liberty (Liberty, Mo.), Perkins started on the varsity squad during her sophomore year, allowing just 14 goals all year and helping the Blue Jays to a Missouri Class III State Title.

Perkins joins three other KCFC players in her commitment to UMKC. She’ll be joined by teammates Ashlen Cyr, Emily Herndon and Lauren Zach in the fall of 2013.
