Syracuse picks up Legends FC defender

By Chris Ackels

Kennedy LaNier, a Class of 2013 defender from Glendora, Calif., has verbally committed to Syracuse, her family has confirmed to ESPNHS.

LaNier is a defender for the Legends FC U17 squad that won the US Youth Soccer National League this season, thanks in large part to a stellar defense. The squad allowed just three goals in National League play and has earned a spot in July’s US Youth Soccer National Championships in South Carolina.

On the high school side, LaNier is a standout for St. Lucy’s Priory (Glendora, Calif.), where she was named the Sierra League MVP and first-team all-star for the San Gabriel Valley.

LaNier becomes the fourth confirmed commit to Syracuse for the Class of 2013, joining Lindsay Destefano, Emma Firenze and Jenny Olensky.
