McLean midfielder commits to Virginia
By Chris Ackels
Nicole Johnson, a Class of 2013 midfielder from McLean, Va., has verbally committed to Virginia.
Johnson is a team captain on McLean’s U17 squad in the ECNL. She also attended the ECNL/id2 Player Development Program event in Philadelphia earlier this year.
In her sophomore season, Johnson was selected to the ESPNHS Fall State All-Star team for her play at National Cathedral School (Washington D.C.). She suffered an ACL injury at the end of that season and says that the injury and ensuing surgery lengthened her commitment process.
“Both of my parents attended Virginia, so I am especially excited to play there,” Johnson said. Two McLean teammates are also committed to Virginia for 2013: Morgan Reuther and Morgan Stearns. Alexis Shaffer of CASL Chelsea is also committed to Virginia for 2013.
