By Chris Ackels

Maddie Burdick, a Class of 2014 midfielder from Alpharetta, Ga., has verbally committed to Georgia, she has confirmed with ESPNHS.

Burdick is a team captain for the Atlanta Fire U16 squad in the ECNL. She is a two-time US Youth Soccer Region III Olympic Development Program player and has travelled internationally with the regional team. She’s been recognized by the ECNL by taking part in the Player Development Program event in Greenville, S.C., and with her selection to the all-event team at least year’s ECNL Final Four Showcase.

On the high school side, Burdick led Blessed Trinity (Roswell, Ga.) to the Class AA state title last season.

She is the first confirmed commit to Georgia for the Class of 2014.
