This year, in her junior season, Lavelle was selected first-team All-Ohio by the coaches association.
Powers is a midfielder and defender with Ohio Galaxies Elite. She is a three-time regional ODP player and has twice been selected for the National Team player pool. Lavelle and Powers join Caitlyn Clem as commits to Wisconsin for the Class of 2013.

Why Wisconsin?: "The biggest attraction and why I even visited was the coach. I played for Paula [Wilkins] on the Region II team in the Thanksgiving Interregional and in Holland. When I went to visit, I loved everything about it. I could picture myself fitting in perfect there. I loved the coaching staff and the campus was beautiful. I loved how it was situated between two lakes. I knew I wanted to go some place with good academics that also had big sports and Wisconsin had both."
What surprised you the most about the recruiting process?: "How quickly it all happens once you get started. I made a few visits the end of my freshman year. Then in my sophomore year, I squeezed in a lot of visits but there were some schools I just didn’t have time to see. I started to feel pulled in a lot of directions so my parents had to limit where I could visit because the time and the money were all adding up."

Why Wisconsin?: "I have a very good relationship with Wisconsin head coach Paula Wilkins since she was my Region 2 Coach for a couple of years and she is first class. The campus environment in Madison and the surrounding lakes are beautiful. A strong academic environment was also very important to prepare me for my career. I also wanted to play in a conference that my No. 1 fans (parents and sister) could come watch!
What did you learn about the whole recruiting process?: "My club coach Pat Ferguson met with me and my parents early in the process to put together a strategy. He was very helpful in sorting things out and with communications. The process was fun and exciting, but somewhat stressful and time consuming."
