Playoff picks: Round 2
By By Mike Grimala
With the second round of the playoffs set to get underway tomorrow, it's time for the weekly picks. Note: You won't see the game between No. 1 Maine South and Stevenson listed here, because I'm saving that preview for tomorrow.
Round 2 playoff picks
Lake Zurich (8-2) at No. 2 Glenbard West (10-0) Saturday, 1 p.m.
Expect this to be a low-scoring affair. If Glenbard West plays mistake-free, they win.
GLENBARD WEST 17, LAKE ZURICH 10
Wheaton Warrenville South (7-3) at No. 3 Lincoln-Way East (10-0) Friday, 7:30 p.m.
WW South is playing its best ball now, but LWE has been doing it all season. There will be a new 7A champ this year.
LINCOLN-WAY EAST 28, WHEATON WARRENVILLE SOUTH 17
Mount Carmel (7-3) at No. 5 Bolingbrook (9-1) Saturday, 6 p.m.
Senior RB Brandon Greer takes over and leads Mount Carmel to the upset.
MOUNT CARMEL 24, BOLINGBROOK 21
Lake Forest (8-2) at No. 8 Batavia (10-0) Saturday, 1 p.m.
I'm not wavering on Batavia. The offense should be able to move the ball against Lake Forest.
BATAVIA 35, LAKE FOREST 20
Cary Grove (8-2) at No. 10 Nazareth (9-1) Saturday, 1 p.m.
The 6A bracket gets shaken up with this result.
CARY GROVE 20, NAZARETH 14
