According to LILacrossenews.com Hicksville (Hicksville, N.Y.) senior defenseman Shane Sweeney has made a verbal commitment to play men's lacrosse for Hofstra University.
Sweeney, a 2012 graduate and a member of the club team For the Love of the Game, made All-County in 2011 and was a member of the Long Island Underclassmen team at the Under Armour games this summer.
Hofstra University is a Division I program located in Hampstead, N.Y. The Pride went 9-5 in 2010 under fourth year head coach Seth Tierney.
