Emily Kift, a junior goalie for Foothill (Santa Ana, Calif.) has verbally committed to play women's lacrosse for the University of Maryland.
Kift plays club lacrosse for West Coast Starz and earned First Team All-County and All-League last season.
ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?
Emily Kift: “California, James Madison, San Diego State.”
ESPNHS: What made Maryland such an attractive choice?
EK: “I was attracted to Maryland's high level of play and their beautiful campus.”
ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?
EK: “I was surprised about the amount of time it took up, but in the end it was all worth it.”
ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?
EK: “I was interested in how many goalies they had on their roster.”
ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?
EK: “Make a video and get yourself out there early!”
ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?
EK: “Not really, it's a big decision and with that comes some stress. But in the end, when you decide it is the best feeling in the world to be done.”
