After two years in Boston, the Warrior 40 is on the move.
It was announced Monday that the 2012 event will take place Aug. 13-15 in Commerce City, Colo., at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. This will be the third Warrior 40, and the first one not to be held at Harvard Stadium in Boston.
Warrior 40 is a three-day competition that features the nation's top underclass high school lacrosse players. The best players from the classes of 2013-14 will receive coaching from Major League Lacrosse stars and participate in skills competitions and a final competition.
The rosters for the Warrior 40 haven't been announced yet, but expect the country's best to be on hand. Warrior 40 alumni include North Carolina's Joey Sankey and Jimmy Bitter, Johns Hopkins' Wells Stanwick, Virginia's Ryan Tucker, Harvard's Jake Gambitsky and Duke's Brian Dailey.
At last summer's event, St. Anthony's (South Huntington, N.Y.) attackman Sean McDonagh took home MVP honors after scoring five goals in the final competition. The No. 38 player in the ESPNHS 100, McDonagh has committed to Harvard.
