The following players are for the week of April 8 through 14.
Devin Dwyer, Sr., Garden City (N.Y.), attack
In one of the most anticipated matchups of the year, the Harvard-bound attackman put on a offensive display in Pennsylvania. Dwyer tallied nine points on six assists and three goals in a 12-11 victory over the previous POWERADE FAB 50 No. 1 team Conestoga (Berwyn, Pa.). After the win, Garden City made a big leap in the rankings and Dwyer has made a name for himself outside of Long Island.
Joey McMahan, Sr., Bishop Moore (Orlando, Fla.), attack
McMahan was unstoppable in a 15-11 victory over Lake Brantley (Altamonte Springs, Fla.) last week. McMahan was involved in 10 of the Hornets goals on five goals and five assists. Winners of their last five, the Hornets and McMahan are poised to make a deep run in the state tournament.
Sam Klingsporn, Jr., Aloha (Beaverton, Ore.), midfield
In a battle of neighboring states it was Oregon’s Aloha who came out victorious over Gig Harbor (Wash.) 15-8. Junior midfielder Sam Klingsporn was the best player on the field in a dominating performance. Klingsporn scored seven goals, had one assist and collected a remarkable 17 ground balls in one the best performances on the West Coast this year.
Connor Flynn, Sr., Rockford (Rockford, Mich.), goalie
Last week’s 5-4 victory over East Grand Rapids (Grand Rapids, Mich.) was a monumental victory for the Rockford program. In just their third victory ever against the Pioneers, the Rams were lead by Flynn who stopped 10 shots, many in dramatic fashion to help the Rams secure the one goal victory.
