Danny Brown from Lake Norman (Mooresville, N.C.) has given a verbal commitment to play men’s lacrosse for Air Force.
The 2012 graduate is the fifth player to confirm his Air Force commitment to ESPNHS.
ESPN High School: What other school’s did you consider?
Danny Brown: “Michigan, Penn State, Roanoke, Lynchburg, among others.”
EHS: What made Air Force such an attractive choice?
DB: “Great athletic facilities, lacrosse program, and academics, but mostly the unlimited opportunities and potential after you graduate.”
EHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?
DB: “It surprised me that the recruiting process is associated with so much politics and "who knows who." Also, how tough it is for kids from the south to get recruited by major universities.”
EHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?
DB: “What percentage of graduates find jobs, and what their academic situation at the school is like.”
EHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?
DB: “Start early, work hard by hitting the wall, lifting, running and shooting. Play at the highest level possible, and dominate. Focus in on 5-7 schools that you are interested in, and be proactive.”
EHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?
DB: “It would have been a little easier if there were more reasonable and affordable ways to gain exposure, being from the south, than to travel north to compete.”
