Alex Bernier, a junior from Falmouth (Falmouth, Maine), has verbally committed to play women's lacrosse for the University of Vermont.
ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?
Alex Bernier: "My top three schools were UVM, UConn, and UNH. I was also in touch with UMass, BU and Notre Dame because I was on their list of recruits."
ESPNHS: What made Vermont such an attractive choice?
AB: "I really enjoyed the campus and people there. I could see myself choosing that school even if I wasn't playing lacrosse."
ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?
AB: "I was surprised as to how fast the process moved."
ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?
AB: "If you have a goal of playing D-I lacrosse, even if you aren't sure you will make the cut, go for it your freshman year. The process moves very fast, really think about the camps you go to and the tournaments you attend."
ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?
AB: "No, I think that deciding where you want to spend the next four years of your life in college is going to be stressful no matter what."
