On the Trail with the 2014 commitments

For the past few months ESPNHS has held off posting commitments for the class of 2014, instead opting to wait until closer to the start of the high school season.

With the launch of the region previews in a few days, we are now posting all commitments we have received thus far and will post a new commitment list for both boys and girls today.

Boys

Kyle Borbi, Shawnee (Medford, N.J.), attack/midfield, Notre Dame
As a freshman, Borbi tallied 42 goals and 28 assists. Borbi also started for the Shawnee football team at Running back this past fall. Borbi chose Notre Dame after considering Duke, Princeton, Harvard, Ohio State and Dartmouth.

Benny Borgognone, Manhasset (Manhasset, N.Y.), defense, Fairfield
Borgognone committed to Fairfield earlier this year. The sophomore attended the Jake Reed's Nike Blue Chip camp in addition to being named to the All-Star Team at Top 205.

Townsend Brown, Georgetown Prep (North Bethesda, Md.), attack/midfield, Virginia
Brown committed to Virginia back in November.

Weston Butcher, Calverton School (Huntingtown, Md.), attack, Penn State
Butcher made the All-Star team at the Battle of the Hotbeds recruiting camp last summer and was also the point leader at the Top 205 All-Star game.

Andrew Carper, Governor’s Academy (Byfield, Mass.), lsm, North Carolina
Carper was one of the earliest 2014 commits, deciding on UNC back on Sept. 13. Carper attended the Jake Reed Blue Chip, was an All-Star at Top 205 and the UNC Team Camp.

Jack Falk, Landon (Bethesda, Md.), midfield, Virginia
Falk committed to the Cavaliers back in November. The 6-foot-2, 180-pound midfielder helped Landon to a No. 15 ranking in the POWERADE FAB 50 last season.

Scott Frankenthaler, Roxbury Latin (West Roxbury, Mass.), defense, Johns Hopkins
Frankenthaler played linebacker and running back this past fall and was named to the Gait FAB 40 All-Star team at the Philly Showcase.

Cooper Fersen, Berkshire School (Sheffield, Mass.), defense, Virginia
Fersen committed to the defending NCAA National Champions in November. The 6-foot-4, 195-pound sophomore plays club lacrosse with 3D lacrosse in the summer.

Eddie Gilman, Hendrick Hudson (Montrose, N.Y.), goalie, North Carolina
Gilman is one of the more recent commitments, choosing the Tarheels in late January.

Sam Lynch, Landon (Bethesda, Md.), midfield, Johns Hopkins
Lynch committed to Hopkins in December.

Tyler Ruhl, Gilman (Baltimore, Md.), attack, Notre Dame
Ruhl was recently featured in Around the Crease and is one of two players ESPNHS has confirmed as being committed to the Fighting Irish. Ruhl scored 32 goals and totaled 23 assists last season.

Shack Stanwick, Boys’ Latin (Baltimore, Md.), attack, Johns Hopkins
Stanwick was the second 2014 commitment ESPNHS confirmed back in November. The attacker represented Baltimore at the 2011 Under Armour Underclassmen games.

Girls

Katy Pridemore, Vero Beach (Vero Beach, Fla.), attack/midfield, Florida
Pridemore committed to Florida this week and was the first 2014 commitment ESPNHS posted. The sophomore also considered Notre Dame, Virginia, Maryland and Duke.

Emily Stein, Darien (Darien, Conn.), midfield, Northwestern
Stein committed to Northwestern in December and is a three-sport athlete playing soccer, basketball and lacrosse for the Blue Wave.
