VMI adds Cardinal Gibbons (N.C.) attacker

Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh, N.C.) senior attackman Ben Huger has verbally committed to play college lacrosse at Virginia Military Institute (VMI).

Huger, a 2012 graduate, joins two attackman who recently committed to VMI: Peter Bradley from Marriotts Ridge and Robert Kitchen Jr. from Greece Arcadia.

VMI is a Division I program located in Lexington, Va. and is a member of the Metro Atlantic Conference.

ESPN High School: What other school’s did you consider?

Ben Huger: “The only other school i considered was Salisbury.”

EHS: What made VMI such an attractive choice?

BH: “VMI was an attractive choice because the coaches were very personable and i like what Coach Anken is doing with the team and I also like what the VMI academics have to offer.”

EHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?

BH: “Nothing really surprised me about the recruiting process because at camps the coaches told you exactly what to expect going into it.”

EHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?

BH: “The most important question I asked the coaches was, "how do you like to coach and what is your philosophy?"
