Boys' Region Players of the Week
By Brett Manney
Each week during the 2012 season, ESPNHS Lacrosse will select a player from each of four regions as Player of the Week.
To submit a player for consideration fill out our submission form here. Please be sure to provide the player’s entire week's worth of performances. Athletes can earn Player of the Week honors just once during the 2012 regular season.
The following players are for the week of May 27 through June 2.
The Southeast season is complete.
Mike Seelye, Sr., Fairfield Prep (Fairfield, Conn.), goalie Seelye stood on his head in the Jesuits' 13-4 win over Staples (Westport, Conn.) in the Connecticut Division L quarterfinals on June 2. Seelye had 17 saves including 11 in the first half. With the state championship within reach, Seelye’s impressive play could lead the Jesuits to the title game.
Grant Clifford, Sr., Lincoln (Portland, Ore.), attack The Oregon powerhouse added another state championship to their already crowded trophy case after a 7-6 win over Sunset (Portland, Ore.) on June 2. Led by Clifford’s two goals, the Cardinals held off an impressive effort by the Apollos. Clifford’s ability to find the back of the net against stellar netminder Collin Peters was the difference in the game.
Tyler Pfister, Sr., Upper Arlington (Columbus, Ohio), attack After falling to Jerome (Dublin, Ohio) twice this season, Pfister and his teammates redeemed themselves in their 7-6 victory in the state championship game on June 2. Pfister propelled the Golden Bears to their sixth title in the last 10 years with two goals and two assists.
