Girls' Region Players of the Week

Each week during the 2012 season, ESPNHS will select a player from each of four regions as Player of the Week.

To submit a player for consideration fill out our submission form here. Please be sure to provide the player’s entire week worth of performances. Athletes can earn Player of the Week honors just once during the 2012 regular season.

The following players are for the week of April 22 through 28.


Annie Heagerty, Sr., St. Anthony’s (South Huntington, N.Y.), attack

Heagerty scored 11 goals last week, which included eight goals against FAB 50 teams. In a battle of Top 10 teams, Heagerty scored five goals and handed out two assists in a 14-9 win over No. 7 Garden City on April 28. Earlier in the week on April 25, the senior scored three goals in a win over No. 16 Sacred Heart. For the season Heagerty has scored 22 goals and dished out eight assists.


Bridget Kimbell, Sr., Cy-Fair (Cypress, Texas), midfield

Kimbell scored six goals to help lead Cy-Fair to a 14-5 victory over Kinkaid in its Texas South District semi-final game on April 24. With the win, Cy-fair advanced to its fourth-straight District Championship game and also advances to the state playoffs for the fourth consecutive year.


Loring Gearhardt, Soph., Hutchison School (Memphis, Tenn.), attack

Hutchison finished its regular season undefeated in state (15-1 overall) and Gearhardt is a big reason why. Last week the attacker accumulated 17 goals, seven ground balls, six draw controls, five assists and caused four turnovers. On April 27 against the No. 2 team in the state, Ensworth, Gearhardt scored five goals and added three assists and three draw controls. Hutchison is the No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs, which begins in Memphis this week.


Michaela Michael, Jr., Menlo School (Atherton, Calif.), midfield

In three games last week Michael scored 14 goals and added four assists. Michael's top performance came in a 22-7 victory over Castilleja (Palo Alto, Calif.) on Friday, April 27. The USC commit totaled seven points on six goals, which included scoring two of her team’s first three goals. Through 16 games Michael has scored 94 goals and added 23 assists.
