Jill May, a junior attacker for St. John The Baptist (West Islip, N.Y.) has given a verbal commitment to play women’s lacrosse for Ohio State. The junior plays club lacrosse for the Long Island Top Guns and was a of the 2010 US Lacrosse School Girls team.

Last season May totaled 88 points on 68 goals and 20 assists.

ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?

Jill May: “Umass, USC, Notre Dame, VA Tech.”

ESPNHS: What made Ohio State such an attractive choice?

JM: “The History of Ohio State athletics and their dedication to their student athletes.”

ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?

JM: “How soon you hear from coaches in your junior year.”

ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?

JM: “Does the school have academic advisors for the team to assist the players with tutoring and mentoring?”

ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?

JM: “Play hard at all your games either high school or club games you never know when a coach is watching.”

ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?

JM: “Let college coaches be allowed to talk to athletes at tourneys so they know what they can get better at on the field.”
