ESPNHS Lacrosse: McDonogh
Each week during the 2012 season, ESPNHS Lacrosse will select a player from each of four regions as Player of the Week.

Athletes can earn Player of the Week honors just once during the 2012 regular season.
The following players are for the week of May 6 through 13.
East
Taylor Cummings, Sr., McDonogh (Owings Mills, Md.), attack
The No. 1 player in the ESPN 100, Cummings may have saved her most clutch performance for her last in the IAAM championship game on May 13. With POWERADE FAB 50 No. 1 McDonogh tied with No. 16 Maryvale Prep the Maryland commit scored the game-winning goal with 9.8 seconds left in the game to lead the Eagles to a 12-11 victory. The win is the Eagles' fourth-straight IAAM conference championship and its third-straight FAB 50 National Championship. The senior scored four goals in the win.
Midwest
Emily Wechsler, Soph., Hockaday (Houston), attack/midfield
Hockaday may not have been the favorite heading into the Texas Girls High School Lacrosse League's Division I state championship, but the Daisies defeated Cy-Fair (Cypress, Texas) and St. John’s (Houston) on May 12 and 13 to win the state championship. Wechsler scored the game-winning goal in overtime to defeat St. John’s for the title. The sophomore scored five goals in the championship game one day after scoring two goals in the semifinal matchup against Cy-Fair.
Southeast
Emily Mayzell, Jr., Hutchison (Memphis, Tenn.), midfield
Mayzell scored five goals in the 20-8 state championship victory over Ensworth on May 11. With Hutchison up one with six minutes remaining in the half, the junior scored her third goal of the game to help extend the lead. The junior’s added two more goals in the second half to help lead the Sting to its second-straight Tennessee Girls Lacrosse Association title.
West
Tyler Sherper, Jr., Mercer Island (Wash.), midfield
Sherper scored seven goals in a 21-10 victory over Issaquah in the quarterfinals of the state playoffs on May 11. The win put the Islanders in the state semifinal against No. 1 Bainbridge Island (Wash.), which will be played on Tuesday May 15. Sherper has 11 goals in Mercer Island’s two playoff games. For the season the junior has 54 goals and 15 assists.
