Mike Skluth, a junior defender from John Jay (Cross River, N.Y.), has verbally committed to play men’s lacrosse for Albany.
ESPNHS: What other school’s did you consider?
Mike Skluth: “I also considered Army, Navy, Yale, Binghamton, and Vermont.”
ESPNHS: What made Albany such an attractive choice?
MS: “They had a great business school, the coaching staff was great, and the lacrosse team was top notch.”
ESPNHS: What surprised you about the recruiting process?
MS: “How quickly and early everything happens.”
ESPNHS: What was the most important question you asked college coaches during the process?
MS: “Where do I stand in the other players they are recruiting for my position.”
ESPNHS: What one piece of advice would you give to other players who are just starting on the recruiting process?
MS: “Try to get into the best camps as early as possible because the process is getting faster and earlier every year.”
ESPNHS: Is there anything about the recruiting process that you think could change that would have made it easier or less stressful for you?
MS: “The coaches being able to contact you at certain points and the limitations.”
