AM ET
Each week during the 2012 season, ESPNHS Lacrosse will select a player from each of four regions as Player of the Week.

To submit a player for consideration fill out our submission form here. Please be sure to provide the player’s entire week worth of performances. Athletes can earn Player of the Week honors just once during the 2012 regular season.

The following players are for the week of April 22-28

East

Henry Blynn, Sr., Haverford School (Haverford, Pa.), attack
Blynn was the straw that stirred the drink for the Fords in their 13- 8 win over public school rival Conestoga (Berwyn, Pa.) on April 28 at the Katie Samson Festival. The Brown recruit tallied nine points on seven goals and two assists. Haverford continues to roll, winning their last 12 games behind Blynn’s big season.

Southeast

Conor Whipple, Jr., St. Andrew’s (Boca Raton, Fla.), attack
Whipple displayed his scoring touch in a 20-11 route of Pine Crest (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) in the second round of the state tournament on April 27. The Scots broke open a close game in the fourth quarter with eight unanswered goals with Whipple leading the charge. The future Georgetown Hoya finished the game with seven goals and one assist.

West

Jaden Franklin, Fr., Kent Denver (Englewood, Colo.), midfield
Franklin shined last weekend against Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (St. Louis, Mo.) on April 27. In the Sun Devils' 15-6 win, Franklin had his best scoring game of his career, contributing three goals. For the Sun Devils to compete for a state championship they will need more solid games from their promising midfielder. Franklin has nine goals and three assists in his freshman season.

Midwest

Dan Bausman, Sr., Eagan (Eagan, Minn.), attack
The Wildcats finishing attackman had quite a week. First against Burnsville (Lakeville, Minn.) on April 23, Bausman found the back of the net four times and then followed that up with six goals against Lakeville North (Lakeville, Minn.) on April 26. Opponents will have a difficult time covering the attackman who is making the most of his opportunities this season in Minnesota.

Look Who’s Playing

DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) could have one of the better-kept secrets in the nation waiting to get his shot in goal.

Sophomore goalie Nick Ramsey was a member of the Stags junior varsity team last season, but over the summer he participated in the Brine Shootout and put on a show for the college coaches in attendance.

“For a kid who just finished his freshman year and to go out there and play goalie, he had incredible poise and ability to position his defense,” Ramsey’s club coach Greg Speed said. “He didn’t care that he was a rising sophomore. He just took control.”

The 5-foot-10, 155-pound sophomore separates himself from other goalies in his class with his ability to read the opposing offense and put his teammates in the best possible position.

“He is a kid who could play at a high level,” Speed said. “I’ve already spoken to several college coaches about Nick.”

News & Notes

ESPNHS learned over the weekend that Kanatiio Adams from Salmon River (Fort Covington, N.Y.) passed away on Jan. 2.

Adams was ESPNHS's No. 14 long stick midfielder and had been accepted to play men’s lacrosse at Cornell.

Adams had transferred to Salisbury School (Salisbury, Conn.) for his senior year and was recently selected to play for the U19 Iroquois Nationals Lacrosse Team.

No details were given surrounding Adams passing.

What You Might Have Missed

Top Story: The Friday before Christmas, ESPNHS reported on the story of Tommy Mallon who broke his neck during his final high school lacrosse game and has used that event to help athletes recognize the signs of concussions and other head and neck injuries.

For the second-straight week the Mallon story has been the most popular story on the site.

The story and video can be seen here.

Top Girls’ Commit: New Trier (Winnetka, Ill.) junior attacker Kelsey Murray is the No. 19 player in the ESPNHS Top 50 Junior list and is the latest player to announce her verbal commitment to play women’s lacrosse for Stanford.

Top Boys’ Commit: Conor Whipple’s verbal commitment to Georgetown was announced over the weekend and picked up enough views to be our top boys story for the week.

The St. Andrew’s (Boca Raton, Fla.) junior has been a starter since his freshman year and has 134 career points.
