When the votes were tallied, DeMatha checked in at No. 14 in this week's ESPNHS Maryland High School Football Top 25.
That got me thinking: When was the last time DeMatha was outside the Top 10? When was the last time the Stags had been ranked so low? The answers may surprise you.
In this week's state rankings, there was little movement in the Top 10 as Good Counsel, Gilman, Quince Orchard, Calvert Hall, Eleanor Roosevelt, Suitland and Old Mill remained the first seven teams. Atholton moved up a spot to No. 8, switching places with Wise, and Poly inched into the Top 10 following DeMatha's loss to Gonzaga (D.C.).
Speaking of DeMatha, the Stags check in at No. 14, marking the first time since Week 7 of 2008 that they have not been in the Top 10 and marking its lowest state poll ranking since Week 10 of the 1994 season. DeMatha has been ranked for 201 consecutive weeks -- dating back to Week 8 of 1994.
